Mount Athos, Dochiariou 5, fol. 3v. The cycle, placed at the beginning of the life of Philip the Apostle, erroneously illustrates scenes from the life of Philip the Deacon. Apostle. Beardless. 1) Philip the Deacon meeting the Eunuch of Ethiopia. Philip, holding a closed scroll, stands behind a quadriga driven by the Eunuch, wearing a turban. The side of the chariot is decorated with a relief of a griffon. 2) Philip the Deacon and the Eunuch of Ethiopia conversing. Philip the Deacon, holding a closed scroll, is seated on a hillock in front of a building. The Eunuch, dark-skinned, wearing a short tunic and turban, is seated on a cushioned bench. 3) Philip the Deacon baptizing the Eunuch of Ethiopia. Philip the Deacon lays his hand on the head of the Eunuch, nude, dark-skinned, standing in the water. Building at left. 4) Philip the Deacon, orant. Two trees. Mount Sinai, gr. 500, fol. 275v. Martyrdom, suspension. Philip, wearing loin cloth, hangs from a cross before a tower of the walls of Hierapolis. Bartholomew the Apostle and Philip's sister Mariamne approach at left. Oxford, Bodleian Library, Gr. th. f. 1, fol. 17r. Martyrdom, crucifixion, upside down. Philip is tied upside down to a cross. Damaged miniature. (Hutter, II, p. 9, fig. 29).

Vatican, gr. 859, fol. 1r. Martyrdom, suspension. Philip is being nailed to a post upside down. The executioner, standing on a bench, drives nails into his feet. At the left, two figures, probably Bartholomew the Apostle and Mariamne. (Ševčenko, N., Metaphrastian Menologion, p. 158, fig. 4D6).

Vatican, gr. 1613, p. 182. Martyrdom, suspension. Philip, wearing loin cloth, is suspended upside down by ropes tied around his ankles from rings attached to towers of the city wall of Hierapolis. His arms are outstretched in a cruciform pose. (Menologio, I, p. 49, II, fig. p. 182).

Cozia. Narthex, vault, north side. Martyrdom, crucifixion, upside down. Philip, wearing loin cloth, is tied upside down to a cross. (Mijović, Menolog, p. 352, fig. 63).

Dečani. Narthex, center aisle, south wall. Martyrdom, suspension. Philip, wearing loin cloth, is suspended upside down from the city wall by ropes tied around his ankles. His arms are outstretched in a cruciform pose. (Babić et al, Dečani, no. 82, fig. T II 23; Mijović, Menolog, p. 325, fig. 41, pl. 198).
