John the Baptist. Conception.

Oxford, Bodleian Library, Gr. th. f. 1, fol. 10v. Annunciation to Zacharias. Archangel Gabriel, holding a staff, addresses Zacharias, high priest, swinging a censer. Behind, an altar under a ciborium. (Hutter, II, p. 5, fig. 16).

Vatican, gr. 1156, fol. 253v. John the Baptist, holding cross with double traverse. Wears a length of cloth draped over his left shoulder leaving chest and legs bare.

Vatican, gr. 1613, p. 61. Annunciation to Zacharias. Archangel Gabriel, holding staff, addresses Zacharias, high priest, wearing vestment with pseudo-Hebrew inscriptions, holding a censer. In the center, altar draped with altar cloth inscribed with a cross, under a domed ciborium surmounted by a cross. Low screens with two doors at the front enclose the ciborium. Cozia. Narthex, vault, south side. Annunciation to Zacharias. Only parts of the angel and the altar are preserved. (Mijović, Menolog, p. 350, fig. 64).

Dečani. Narthex, center aisle, east wall. Annunciation to Zacharias. Archangel Gabriel, holding staff, addresses Zacharias, high priest. In the center, altar under a ciborium surmounted by a cross. (Babić et al, Dečani, no. 24, fig. T I 5; Mijović, Menolog, p. 320, fig. 47, pl. 168).

Gračanica. Southeast pier, north face. Annunciation to Zacharias. Half-figure of flying angel appears to Zacharias, high priest, standing before an altar on which there is a book. (Mijović, Menolog, p. 289, fig. 20; Petković, "Gračanica," fig. 2; Todić, Gračanica, p. 99; Živković, Gračanica, fig. VI southeast 15).

Staro Nagoričino. Narthex, north aisle, north wall. Annunciation to Zacharias. Zacharias, high priest, swinging a censer, stands before an altar on which there is a book, and over which is a ciborium. He is addressed by the half-figure of a flying angel, who appears under the ciborium. (Mijović, Menolog, fig. 10, pl. 21; Todić, Staro Nagoričino, p. 85).

Xantippa and Polyxena of Spain.

Xantippa, wife of the Roman prefect Probus, and her sister Polyxena, a virgin. Said to be disciples of Paul and Andrew the Apostles. 1st cen.
