Two groups of people carrying lighted candles flank the leaders of the procession, a priest holding a pyxis and censer, a deacon carrying a gemmed processional cross, the patriarch Anatolius, wearing bishop''s vestments, holding a book, and Emperor Theodosius II, barefoot, wearing a crown surmounted by a cross.
