The central panel of Florentine velvet brocade in crimson and gold of the late 15th century, the embroidered border, of gold and coloured silks on black velvet, English work, about 1500, repaired in 1686. (from V & A catalog, above)

The date is for the original work; the pall was restored in 1686.
